Exclamation Farming Nerfs? Urban Myth?

Btw, i dont know if this is the correct forum for this, but...

I have been playing GW for 2 months now, and consider myself pretty knowledgable about the game for this short timespan.

i have been farming for about a month and i constanly see posts about farming nerfs. People saying that if too many ppl nerf in a certain location, or that person farms too long in a single location, that the drops from monsters gets 'nerfed', in essence reducing the amount of good drops.

So, is this factually true? GW creators/programmers do such a thing? Is this inherent in the game? Or is this just an urban myth?

It seems in my experience this is total BS and has fast become an urban myth. Like i say, unless some1 can base this on facts, then i hold my opinion. I can say this because i have farmed the same location for a month straight now. Of this location, i have not seen any pattern, order or gradual degredation of good drops, in fact lately i have been getting the best drops i have ever gotten!! And GUESS WHAT!! this location has been farmed by ALL since day one: in Prophets PAth, outside Augury Rock!!

After farming this one location for a full month, and not being able to establish a pattern or degredation of item drops, i still wonder why the "NERF" idea still is so prominent...?! Some1 please explain to me why, or point me in the right direction...cause the whole "AREA IS NERFED, NOT WORTH FARMING!" threads & comments just dont hold water for me...

Hmm that was kinda long, if any veteran players get through all that, lmk your thoughts! I am real curious!! thx

P.S. Comments without fully reading my post wont help...again i dont see ANY pattern OR degredation to item drops...(i.e. Still can get 2-3 golds in a random run, some runs i DO get nothing worthwhile, and some i get great items, black dyes, gold items etc!! this randomness makes me think "Nerf" is a myth...)

It used to drop more than 1 gold item in 1 run(guaranteed). Now they either drop white or a bunch of purple, and if you're lucky a rare or two once in a while. (talking about griffon farming)

It's an established fact that ArenaNet took steps to counter location farming back when the Hill Giants in Riverside were overly popular for rune salvaging. If a player continually plays a certain part of a map or mission repeatedly, the monsters killed will start to "run low on loot" as the popup tip puts it.

It is no myth.

Gates of Kryta hasn't been nerfed either.

Although there's not much point in farming anywhere except the UW any more.

well, seems like they really do exist...and are inherently created in game for observed farm areas, by programmers. At least someone else is still getting good turnout like me! im sure there are others...

So i guess whenever i find a new farm spot, the point of keeping it secret is so the programmmers/devs dont get wind of it eh? lol...ty for all your all thoughts & input!

Most nerfs (god I hate that word) take place in areas where "lather, rinse, repeat" farming is easily accomplished. Run outside town, kill set # of enemies, open chests, do it all over again.

OR overly farmed areas. The Drakes in Gates of Kryta got hit hard. I'd have prefered that they were simply made harder to kill than just nerfed. My W/Mo can kill 4 at a time with ease, 6 on a good day. Now if they were Lv 24 GRAND Drakes, it'd be a good challenge and worthy of a good drop or 2.

Undead runs in Gates of Kryta kick ass for salvage runs. 300 bones and 40 Orr emblems? Hey, it adds up!

Spots that haven't been nerfed are usually ones that are at least 2 zones from any town or outpost. That way you can't just run into town and sell your stuff and run back out. Tallmark Wilderness is a GREAT place to farm, if you can handle the Fog Nightmares. I've gotten several max golds from there, and the Imps drop charcoal 1/3 of the time or more. It's not fast, it's not quickly accessible, and it's not easy. And that's why it's not nerfed. And that really is the nerf formula in a nutshell.

If you've ever read the game update notes, you'd notice that there are a lot of updates with something like : item and monster distribution in "area x" has been updated. a.k.a. Nerfed. I've been playing since May and made plenty so don't really care now though.

So, what are you farming?

Skill points?
-they are faster other places

Weapon unlocks?
-yea right

Rune unlocks?
-try and tell me they are there

Money?
-your in the wrong game, everyone has that.

There was a time when you could solo the riverside mission with a W/Mo and get 2-3 runes a run and getting a Superior was not uncommon.
....Now, well, I'm glad I farmed my rune unlocks a long time ago.

I think they have done pretty well with the farming adjustments, but there is no place to farm runes, so I feel sorry for the newcomers. Nevertheless, I think the bots have slowed down (or I just farm areas that they cannot).

I have to say that gold weapon drops have gone up, but that doesn't matter since they are mostly gold with bad mods and stats.
